The Lion in Essex

A lion was loose in St Osyth,
All were shaking, heads to toeses!
And the police got all hot and bovvered;
Helicopters up above threateningly hovered...
But it weren't the faraway lion, but, one supposes,
Just a little pussy cat, sitting right under their noses.

When This Was That

Behold the sea, now cold and flat,
Where once the summer surf rolled in.
Upon this sand our children sat
With melting ice and chocolate grin.
Then lovers, flushed in hot embrace,
Now hand in hand in silent grace
We stroll the shore in scarf and hat
And dream of times...
when this was that.
